CUSTOM APPAREL FAQs

Got questions? Fair enough. From screen printing and embroidery through to artwork setup, turnaround times and garment choices, here’s a breakdown of the things we get asked most often.

What services do you offer?

We offer screen printing, embroidery, custom illustration, retro mascot design, apparel sourcing and merch production for brands, businesses, churches, events and creatives across Australia.

What is screen printing?

Screen printing is a traditional printing method where ink is pushed through a mesh screen directly onto a garment. Each colour in a design is separated onto its own screen and printed layer by layer.

The result is a durable, high quality print with bold colours and a premium feel that lasts for years when cared for properly.

How are screens made?

Before printing, artwork is separated and exposed onto coated mesh screens using UV light. This process is often called “burning screens.”

Once exposed and washed out, the design becomes a stencil that allows ink to pass through only where the artwork exists.

What are halftones?

Halftones are tiny dots used in screen printing to simulate gradients, shading and photographic detail using limited ink colours.

Rather than printing smooth fades digitally, screen printing creates the illusion of tones through dot patterns. This is commonly used in vintage style prints, distressed graphics and detailed artwork.

What garments do you print on?

We can source and print on:

  • tees

  • hoodies

  • workwear

  • hats

  • crewnecks

  • jackets

  • tote bags

  • uniforms

  • promotional apparel

We primarily work with quality garments that are built to last and feel good to wear.

What is embroidery?

Embroidery uses thread stitched directly into garments to create durable, textured branding and graphics. It’s commonly used on:

  • hats

  • workwear

  • hoodies

  • polos

  • jackets

Embroidery offers a premium finish and excellent durability.

What is digitisation?

Before embroidery can happen, artwork needs to be converted into a stitch file that embroidery machines can read. This process is called digitisation.

Digitisation determines:

  • stitch direction

  • density

  • layering

  • thread paths

Good digitisation is one of the biggest factors in clean embroidery results.

Do you offer design services?

Yep.

We offer:

  • custom illustration

  • vintage inspired graphics

  • retro mascot design

  • apparel layout design

  • print ready artwork preparation

Whether you’ve got a finished concept or just a rough idea, we can help shape the creative direction.

What file types do you need?

Preferred file types include:

  • AI

  • EPS

  • PDF

  • SVG

  • High resolution PNG

Don’t stress if you don’t have those though. Send through whatever you’ve got and we’ll help assess it.

Is there an artwork fee?

Artwork cleanup, redraws, vector conversions or custom design work may incur an artwork fee starting from $150 AUD depending on the complexity of the project.

What is your turnaround time?

Our standard turnaround time is generally 7–10 business days

This may vary depending on:

  • garment availability

  • artwork approval timing

  • order size

  • production schedule

Do you offer rush orders?

Yep. Rush orders are available depending on our production schedule.

Rush turnaround:

Approximately 3 business days

Additional rush fees will apply.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

Minimums can vary depending on the type of job, garment and print method, but most screen printing jobs start around 10 garments.

If you’re unsure, just reach out and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Can I supply my own garments?

In some cases, yes. But it's not really the done thing for us. They would have to be really special garments.

Please note that printing on customer supplied garments is done at the customer’s risk and we cannot guarantee replacements if issues occur during production.

Do you provide mockups before printing?

Absolutely.

Artwork proofs and mockups are supplied before production begins so you can approve:

  • sizing

  • placement

  • colours

  • garment selections

  • spelling

Nothing goes into production without approval.

How long do prints last?

With proper care, screen printed and embroidered garments can last for years.

For best results:

  • cold wash only

  • wash inside out

  • avoid tumble drying

  • do not iron directly onto prints

Do you ship Australia wide?

Yep. We ship merch Australia wide from Western Sydney.

Shipping times vary depending on your location and courier service.

What kind of clients do you work with?

We work with:

  • brands

  • cafes

  • churches

  • events

  • trades

  • bands

  • gyms

  • creators

  • local businesses

  • apparel labels

Basically anyone chasing merch that doesn’t suck.

Can you help if I don’t know exactly what I want yet?

Definitely.

A big part of what we do is helping shape ideas into wearable merch. Whether you’ve got a clear vision or just a rough feeling you’re chasing, we can help guide the process from concept through to finished product.

No boring merch.

Cheers

RETRO
MASCOTS
VINTAGE
ILLUSTRATIONS

Playful, nostalgic and full of personality. Inspired by vintage cartoons, Americana, surf culture, old school branding and weird little characters that somehow just work.

Illustration driven merch inspired by the vibes, it could be a start up tech company but it feels like outdoor culture, folk art, vintage signage and storytelling. Less mascot, more world building.
